At the moment for NaNo I'm a little over 12k. I don't mind the wordcount as for this NaNo I'm aiming for completing my [livejournal.com profile] fmabigbang and [livejournal.com profile] help_japan. I'm a bit behind on that as I thought I would get the last chapters of my Big Bang done by the 15th the latest. My writing then got stalled due to a family emergency and having to get the fourth and fifth chapter of my Big Bang revised.

I'm really, really close to finishing my FMA Big Bang and just need to write out one or two more scenes before the last chapter is finished. However, I'm kinda regretting using my FMA Big Bang story for NaNo. One of the ideas I wrote for the eight chapter I suddenly realize is probably unrealistic and unneeded. Depending the changes I'll do for the earlier chapters and what my beta will think once I send her the eight chapter, the last chapter might need to be rewritten and perhaps I'll need to add/delete stuff. I should be glad at least I'm finally getting this story done and that I do have stuff to edit as that way I have a chance to get my Big Bang up to shape before posting time.

All right, enough of my NaNo/Big Bang rambling. XD Here's a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish:

Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself:

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
I first heard of that show from [livejournal.com profile] nekusagi and [livejournal.com profile] enigma_shadow1 as they talked about it often back when it was airing in Japan. Curious, I started watching the first episode and was instantly hooked. Panty and Stocking is sooooo crazy and weird at times but the crazy and weird good kind, LOL.

Royai
All right, I'll say straight up I'm not that much into romance and shipping because I prefer friendship interactions. When I do ship a pairing, it doesn't last very long. However, Roy and Riza I love loads and still will for quite sometime. They somehow pulled too many heartstrings from me and I'm thinking too much over my headcanon on them, haha. I guess part of the reason is because there are a few moments with them where I think instantly they're perfect for one another and it's fun thinking over how their relationship (platonic or romantic) will go post series. Also they are very dependent of one another (in a good and OH GAWDS FEELINGS kind of way) and I'm a sucker for those kind of couples, LOL.

Free Food
I love free food a lot as saving money is always a plus! I had worked at my university's restaurant dorms and one of the benefits working there is the free food. Really great especially when you're a poor college student. *_* I'm also used to free food as my dad's former boss would always treat my family to free dinners at his wife's restaurant, LOL.

Marley the Briggs Doctor
Haha, I really quite like the Briggs Doctor the moment I saw her in Brotherhood (watched the anime first before reading the manga). She has this cool personality around her that drew me in quickly. When writing my Briggs Doctor/Riza story Snowed In I then began thinking how I'll expand Marley's personality and also her backstory, which was very fun.

Haha, even though I love Roy/Riza to bits, I'm so tempted to do a crack fic where Marley and Riza pull something like this (thank you [livejournal.com profile] aztecravemonkey for showing that link :P) and Roy looking on in shock. Er yeah, I'm weird.

Frightening productivity on your Big Bang
I already mentioned a few times where I actually got started with my Big Bang in early May and was writing a few off tangent scenes here and there while working on other stories. Reason I started it writing early is because I want to see first which direction I want to take the story before deciding if I'll want to use it for Big Bang.

By the time the sign ups came in August I had a vague idea where I want the plot to go and had been concentrating on my Big Bang ever since. There were actually days where I hadn't written my Big Bang for a couple weeks due to dealing with a lot of stuff and then when I get the chance to write the story I would have a lot of words down in several days, haha.

As mentioned before I'm very close to completing my Big Bang, but the story will most likely go through a few huge revisions, particularly on the latter chapters, so I hope to get everything polished up and ready by March. Got a lot of work cut out for me!

Bay-! Part of me sort of hates to direct anyone to anything I've written, but I thought you might like to know I've answered 2 of my 4 FMA/PMMM prompts for the latest round of No True Pair. ^^;

1 - short and angsty Miles & Homura friendship [Homura as an officer at Briggs!, Homura/Madoka]

2 - oh what on earth did I write?! Kimblee & Madoka [Kimblee in the PMMM world]

...So I still have my Madoka & Miles and Kimblee & Homura prompts to do something with. Better finish the set, right? XD;

Oh, and I'll take five things if you want to give me some!

OH MY GAWDS I love both of those stories! The Miles and Homura is very bittersweet while the Kimblee and Madoka one is quite awesome (what does Kimblee what from Madoka? D: ). Good luck with the other two prompts!

And all right, let's see here:

1. Kimblee
2. Homura/Madoka
3. Drawing
4. Cosplay
5. Swing dancing

Thank you! ^^; (Any of the things I could imagine Kimblee asking her for I couldn't bear to say! XD; That's why I had to stop there!)

Oh my! Time for some long and rambling answers coming up soon on my journal! :D

Dang girl, you're making awesome progress there! You can make the target today! \o/ And the list:

1. Supernatural
2. Knightblazer
3. Hellsing
4. Singapore
5. Game Design

Doot doot dooot.

1. Supernatural
I am officially addicted to it? It has gotten me hooked? I have not been so into a fandom like this since Pokémon, and that's saying something. It's just... really fun to watch, and the actors are all sweet and awesome and nice. I am sad that S'pore no longer airs it, though. :c But at least there's still the internet. Somehow I've really found back my writing drive through it too, which is another awesome thing. XD

2. Knightblazer
Still one of the most awesome things since sliced bread.

It's just... cool-looking demon kight kicks ass with awesome looking moves. I can't ask for anything more. Also, Knightblazer as a name just sounds awesome, and it sticks like glue.

3. Hellsing
STILL MY FIRST FANDOM LOVE. OVA 8 came out recently (with The Dawn animated too) and it is awesome, and I tremble in my seat for the epic that 9 will give in February. Never fail me, Hellsing. Never fail me.

4. Singapore
Concrete jungle, lots of food, annoying place at times but still home all the same. Sure, there're... irritating bits, but I can't deny the awesomeness of the public transportation system and how efficient it is - its something I've come to appreciate a fair bit now.

Also, it was mentioned in here so now I will spend the rest of my day laughing.

5. Game Design
It's something I hadn't planned on delving into, but its working out pretty well so far and I can't really regret this. The teachers are great, my class is swell and for the moment, its just pretty awesome. Still, its pretty surprising at the stuff that goes behind a game, and learning about all of that is really enlightening.

Fun answers! :D I love the Briggs doctor too. She has a lot of personality given how we only see her in a couple of scenes, but then you could say that about a lot of Arakawa's minor characters.

Good luck with your Big Bang edits! Sounds like you're polishing it up good.

Also, you can give me a list if you like! :D

In agreement there where a lot of the minor characters are awesome. :D And thanks for the good luck! I'm going to need it. XD;

Okay, for your list:

1. Roy/Ed
2. Rebecca
3. Drawing
4. Teaching
5. Goober

Date: 2011-11-20 07:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bob_fish.livejournal.com
Okay, imma gonna answer these here.

1. Roy/Ed: I'm afraid they're totally, hands-down my favourite pairing. In the manga they're written as foils for one another, in a Red Oni, Blue Oni way. They have huge amounts in common but also major differences that play off each other really nicely (animeverse Roy/Ed is a whole other thing, the characters are so different). Canonically, I think as Ed matures he comes to understand Roy a lot better, and as he does so warms to him and cheerleads/nags him towards his goals in that special Ed way of his (e.g. the 520 cenz promise). All this adds up to make them, if that's your cup of tea, slash quite astonishingly well together. For me, regardless of any underageness concerns, you kind of need Ed grown-up and post-manga for this version to work. But with all that in place, they just make me happy. I think a lot of it's the bickering, which makes them feel very identifiable to me.

2. Rebecca: I love her. I wrote her as a random hook-up for Havoc in a kinkmeme fic (my second fic ever) and suddenly realised that a) she's unendingly hilarious and b) she and Havoc just mesh together beautifully as a couple. I find her so easy to write. I was happy to find when I wrote my mystery chapterfic No Small Injury that people loved her more than I though and were happy to see her upgraded to main cast member. I agree! It's her combination of ridiculousness and well-disguised competence that makes her fit so nicely into Team Mustang. I love how she's shameless and just calls it like she sees it - she ends up being the Cordelia/Anya figure of the ensemble cast, and every gang needs one of those.

3. Drawing: I've always drawn since always. However! I didn't draw for four years during my gap year and undergrad degree. I picked it up again when I started drawing comics with brush and ink. I started doing a regular cartoon for a friend's small-press magazine in 2003, and since then have had a trickle of small professional jobs once or twice a year. My big breakthrough, though, was buying [livejournal.com profile] enemytosleep's drawing tablet from her at 2009 (she gave me a ridiculously low price because she's lovely). The tablet lets me gets rid of my messy sketch layers and mistakes, and improved my linework instantly. I luffs it.

4. Teaching: lecturing a whole class of uni students was a tad scary at first, but doing it several times a week makes it become sort of automatic. I never expected to enjoy teaching as much as I do. I'm not perfect, and strive to become better, but when students say nice things about how you've helped them, it makes you feel really very nice indeed. It's funny how they think we're all grown-ups, though. Actually, university lecturers are mostly goofy little nerds who lucked out and managed to get a job nerding for a living instead of a proper job.

5. Goober: haha, I'm not sure if this means I like to use the word goober, I am a goober or I love to write characters as goobers. I think all three of these things are the case. All my favourite characters are goobs, Roy and Ling in particular are special for how they combine being genuinely handsome, suave and charming with also being big dorks. I like it.

Great answers there! Roy/Ed isn't my particular pairing for a few reasons (mostly me seeing their relationship more as father/son or nagging brothers), but I do agree with you over Ed understanding Roy a lot and cheerleading him a lot for his goals!Totally see that happening. I also agree the pairing would work when Ed is a bit more older and in post series. Also haha when I mentioned Goober it was along the lines of all three but I want to see how you interpret it. Also that's why I love Roy and Ling. :P

I personally find Roy not very fatherly, but big brother I can see for sure. (I think CoM did this one literally and made them half-brothers due to Hoho's pre-Trisha centuries of catting around XD). Yes, post-manga is my favouritest for this pairing. I like Ed confident and mature in general (exception for goobing it up on the Camping Trip of Doom), and he definitely needs to be that way to stand up to Roy, whether as buddies or lovers.

I quite like being a goober. XD Fewer worries about losing mah dignity.

I'm so looking forward to reading your Big Bang story :D

Royai is avery interesting pairing. I can see them as a couple but I can also see them as just friends (very close friends). In a way, their relationship is very similar to that of the Elric brother's.

Who doesn't like free food ;)

Thanks! Hopefully the story will be good once I get all the chapters polished (which will be a slow process, lol).

Yeah, I totally see them going either as a couple or friends. I had written fics with them in one of those situations, haha. And now that I think about it, you're right that their relationship is quite similar to the Elric brothers. :)

Haha, yep. Free food for everyone! XD
