Is it just me, or is media seemed to tell us to not focus on your career and "GO MAKE BABIES!" Now I'm all for having a work/life balance as it's good to not be stressful about your work all the time and also am cool with people who wants to start a family. However, there are those that want to focus on career first baby later, and those that don't even want children. There are those that love their jobs amd have that as their life and don't mind it at all, which is okay too. I shouldn't be surprised since this has been going on for a while, but this has been on my mind lately.

Okay, enough with my rambling. Let's go with a meme I stole from missyquill. She gave me the color orange and I have to list ten things that remind me of that color. If you like to play too, let me know and I'll give you a color!

1. High school rivalry. The students at my high school would badmouth about the color orange because that is our rival high school's colors. The rival high school's football team always beat my high school's team, but we're much better at them when it comes to softball, LOL.

2. Palm Springs desert. When I was in fifth grade the class went on a field trip to see some desert animals there. I remember I kept complaining in my head it was so hot outside and also buying a picture book that mentions the types of desert animals, haha.

3. My orange tennis shirt and shorts. Some of you may know I play tennis in high school. Many times I would wear this orange shirt and short for practice as it's my favorite tennis outfit.

4. Talk show host Conan O' Brien, whose hair is on the orange color side though he's often called a redhead, heh.

5. Oranges! Whenever I get sick I would eat as much oranges as I can. I still eat oranges sometimes when I'm not sick, though! XD

6. The song "An Atlas to Follow" by the band Wild Sweet Orange. Yes, counting this because of the band name, LOL. First heard of that song from sixpences's Roy Mustang fanmix and thought the lyrics really suit him well!

7. My first Webester dictionary I bought from a 99 cents store, which is orange. I still have it today. XD

8. Brendan and May's trainer outfits from Pokemon Emerald. Not sure what the majority of the Pokemon fandom think, but I like their designs quite a bit.

9. Davesprite and Dirk Strider from Homestuck. YEP.

10. Code Geass. "ORANGGGGGE!" Need I say more?

I realize half of the list is related to games/tv shows/webcomics. Ah well. XD

You know, I don't usually bring it up, but I have no plans to have kids. It's not my thing. However, all but two (out of maybe twelve) people I have explained this two have been nothing but smug, condescending assholes who immediately insist 'You'll change your miiiiiind when you find the right maaaaan!'

... At that point I have to debate whether it's worth explaining asexuality to them or if I want to be patronised about that too. >_>

HOWEVER, I am also interested in this colour meme, because why not procrastination is fun. :D

Oh boy. -_- I know several people whose friends are like that too. And yeah, probably it's best to not explain to them about asexuality as they won't get it.

As for color, how about green? Random. XD

I wonder if this whole "Women Should Stay Home and Push Out Babies" is an unfortunate result of the upcoming elections and the media jumping on the idea. Having kids should be a WOMAN's individual choice and she shouldn't be looked down upon if she decides to not have any. I've gotten a very long way into adulthood without having kids; I never wanted to have children, so I didn't. And I was raised in a religion that likes to see women barefoot and pregnant all all times; I no longer subscribe to that way of thinking, and haven't been since I was a kid, because that belief system always chafed against who I am.

Hey, I've always been my own person! =D

Throw me a color! It might help whet my muse to start writing again!

Never thought of it that way, but it could be. Totally agree having kids is a woman's choice. My culture pretty much think the same way, but as you said I like to be my own person.
