You know, that's one of the things I haven't thought about. I was banging my head over it while at work today, haha.
Pretty much I think Raticate died. XD I can't remember if I read it from a random website or there was a discussion in livejournal one time, but there was a mention of how Gary's Raticate didn't appear when you battle him before Lavender Town. I admit, I don't keep track which Pokemon are in Gary's team when playing Red (haven't played FR/LG yet sadly D: ), so what happened to Raticate didn't cross my mind until recently. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense Raticate died. How? Probably from sickness or a serious injury that even the medical staff at the Pokemon Center couldn't handle.
Yeah, still need to think through more of that Raticate. XD
As for the earthquake, indeed. Huh, I just checked my NZ friend's twitter, and the death toll dropped. O.o; But yeah, Australasia has ben through crazy stuff lately. D:
