Challenge #5
In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
So I think I mentioned the DnD podcast/show Critical Role a couple times here. What I would like to promote though is another podcast in a similar vein called The Adventure Zone.
So The Adventure Zone is a podcast by the McElory brothers and their father where they play Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop games. Their first one was the Balance arc and it was the usual high/urban fantasy plot that DnD often has with some modern takes. There was a murder train mystery, a Wild West timeloop arc, drag racing, and a gameshow to name a few. Also some characters are LBTQ! There are over 60 episodes and each one are great, especially the final episode.
They then did a few short ones before settling with the Amnesty arc, which was more like monster of the day fare. Like the Balance arc there are three main characters. One is a park ranger with a talking sword, one is a bisexual woman who has fire powers, and one who runs a shop similar to Gravity Falls's Mystery Shack. This one is about 20-30 something episodes, so shorter than the Balance arc and the pacing is a bit off at times but still fun.
Their current campaign they're doing now is Graduation, which is about three characters who are supposed to be in a school that teaches how to be heroes or villains, but instead they're put in a school for sidekicks. It's still ongoing but I think it has potential to be great at the end.
Um, I realize TAZ has more than one canon and the question asks to promote a canon oops. The McElroy family though are great with characters and why I'm still following their stories. I totally recommend checking out the Balance arc and then try out the other stories too if you're into tabletop games, good stories and characters, or both!
